So Much, to be Thankful For

So Much, So Much, So Much, to be Thankful For

Even though my dear friend Princess Ruby is with the Lord, singing and rejoicing, I can still hear her singing, "We have so much, so much, so much, to be thankful for! We have each other, to be thankful for. We have each other to be thankful for. We have each other to be thankful for. We have so much, so much, so much, so much, to be thankful for!”

Sometimes we forget that. I know I do.

Sometimes, we get our eyes on the problems and circumstances in our life, that are troublesome. Sometimes we get our eyes on the things we want and don't want.

Sometimes we get our eyes on the people in our lives, both future and past, and they seem bigger than they should be and have a control over us, because we have put hope in them.

Sometimes we get our eyes on our hopes and dreams and how life did not turn out the way we had thought it would.

Sometimes we get our eyes on politics and begin to be deceived into thinking they we save us.

There is so much turmoil, fighting, struggle, rebellion, revolting, rejection and hurt in this world today.

This is always true, but I think more than ever I see that there are a lot of hurting people who have no hope, no direction, no confidence, no Savior. Maybe their hope is in their job, in their family, in their vacation time, in material things, homes, cars, traveling, finding that perfect person in their life, doing whatever they want to do and not having to work for it, having their political candidate win. All these hopes and desires and dreams and people will fail us. They will crumble and fall and not lift us up. The bigger they become in our lives, the farther we will fall when they don't measure up!

But there is a hope and a Salvation that is a sure foundation. That hope is Jesus. He is our light and our salvation. He is our hope and our peace and our joy. Jesus is the Prince of Peace. Only He can give me true lasting joy! Jesus is my treasure and He can never be taken away from me. His love is everlasting. Because He loved me, He died for me and because I trust in Jesus for my Salvation I have His peace and I have assurance of Salvation and a hope for the future. When I look back on my life, I see a lot of disappointments and pain. Things have not turned out the way I had hoped. My life is almost over. There is more behind me in the past than there is in the future. But when I put my hope in Christ and set my eyes on Jesus, The Author and Finisher of my faith, then I can rest and know, He has it all in the palm of His hands. My past life is all part of His Story and He is not finished yet. The best part is, I know the end and Jesus wins!

So I can look up and fix my gaze on Jesus and remember, I have so much, so much, so much to be thankful for!

May you be strengthened with all power, according to his glorious might, for all endurance and patience with joy, giving thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of the saints in light. He has delivered us from the domain of darkness and transferred us to the kingdom of his beloved Son, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins (Colossians 1:11-14).

Stuck at Home? What’s a Mother to do?

We have been dependent on so many things. Even Home-schoolers are not used to being at home to do school. We’ re often depende nt on co-ops to teach our children. We drive them around and get others to teach them instead of teaching them at home. C o-ops come in all shapes and sizes. They are a great option and a blessing. They provide friends, tutors for subjects we don’t feel as confident in . T hey give us a sense of community. We are also dependent on various other groups such as sports, dance, mock trial, b ible studies etc. None of these are bad things in and of themselves, but maybe we have looked to these too much and became so crazy busy that we did not have time to rest and be quiet before the Lord . And now f or many of us if not most, in our town, state, country and around the world, we are suddenly sheltering at home because of the covid19 pandemic that has hit the world. W e find ourselves alone at home with our children and spouse for an indefinite amount of...

Smile

Smile I rushed out the door into the world. Anything could happen. I may get in a car accident. I may trip and break my leg. They might not have everything I need at the store. They might not have toilet paper! I may get corona virus! I was going outside of my bubble into the scary world. I was going to the grocery store. It is not my favorite thing to do anyway but I used to enjoy it more because there were other humans there to talk to and to smile at. Now I am not so sure. Now all I see is masked men and women and children. It is not a happy sight. I may see someone I know and not recognize them. Everyone just looks so impersonal. It seems like another world where you can not recognize any one. I miss going out in public and seeing people’s expressions and smiles. I miss talking even small talk in the grocery isles. I miss the joy of seeing someone I know and getting a chance to chat and catch up on our families, children, grandchildren, parents, friends, while we stand in fron...

Thankful for my husband

Poem from Mark to Laura 1985 A Flower from the Father All my life I’ve thanked God for flowers I’m thanking Him now for you You’re a flower from God to me Sweeter, gentler, more beautiful And never has even the loveliest flower Sung with sweet voice the praises of God Or spoken kind words to me Never listened with caring heart Never walked with me or laughed with me Never held my hand Never received Christ as Savoir Or loved me with His love As much as I’ve been blessed by flowers They don’t compare with the blessing of you And O how lovely our Lord Whose beauty, love and care It is I see in you Who directs my heart To praise and adore Him From Whom this blessing flows Thank you Father for Laura A flower of your love
